Q: How did you get started in art and what about it made it so appealing to you?
A: I got started with art when I was a kid. My uncle did art and we lived in the same house and I used to paint with him. I like art ’cause you can pretty much do whatever you want; there are no limitations to it.
Q: What inspires your work?
A: The world around me. Fat people, awkward people, animals.
Q: What is the favorite medium you use?
A: Definitely micron pens and acrylic paint.
Q: Have you done paid jobs for people?
A: Yeah, I have. It’s fun to have people telling you what they want and when they get it, they are all excited. Sometimes, they are like you should’ve done it this way. Haha.
Q: What artist do you most relate to?
A: I just found this artist, Matt Furie not too long ago that I think he’s sick, but skateboard artists are definitely a big influence and street artists are a big favorite also.
Q: Do you ever run into artistic roadblocks?
A: Yeah, all the time. But I try to do at least one drawing a day so I don’t blow it.
Q: What’s the first thing you do before starting a new piece?
A: I don’t know if I really have a ritual that I do. I usually just have an idea in my head and just start painting on the canvas or wood or whatever I have to paint on.
Q: How is New York treating you thus far?
A: New york is amazing, except this winter weather here. I hate to shovel snow.
Q: I hear you are planning on going to Finland, what’s that about?
A: School! I’m a citizen, so I get free school over there. I don’t want to be paying off for college my whole life.
Q: What is your favorite thing to draw?
A: I used to draw this character. I called him, Rupert. I don’t really draw him that much anymore. Now it’s kind of whatever pops into my head.
Q: What’s your take on people who only use graphic art programs to make art?
A: It’s their medium. Some people got that on lockdown and their stuff looks amazing.
Q: Any advice for a young artist?
A: If you are serious about it, don’t give up just keep working at it.
Q: Explain the way your brain works when you are about to create something new?
A: I have an idea in my head and it just goes from there. Sometimes it changes, sometimes it will stay on track, but I’m usually pretty satisfied with the outcome.
Q: How has your art opened doors for you in your life?
A: Yeah, but skating has helped open those doors. The skating community is so close knit and helpful with one another. It’s different than other large groups of people.
Q: How did your work with RIPNDIP come about, and what influenced your design choice?
My friend Nick put in a good word for me. Ryan just told me to draw whatever so that I did. RIPNDIP is awesome though everyone should rep RIPNDIP
Q: East or west coast?
A: EAST!
