John Kim A Profile

by Administrator on Aug.26, 2009, under Artwork

I met John one day skating around Manhattan through a mutual friend. I had always heard stories about him and seen pictures that he had taken but never knew the face. My knowledge of photography is limited but from what I can tell the kid has got skills. I sat down with John to ask him a few quick question about photography and how he got started.

(WP):  What got you into photography?

John Kim: skate magazines for sure

(WP): Out of those photos u sent which one has the craziest story behind it

John Kim: Let me see the coolest story would have to be max piras gap nosebonk.  Max was in town for spring break and before he left back for school in cali we wanted to catch a last sesh. Max wanted to skate that ledge but we circled the place for a while until we decided to go in and peep to see if it was in the park at the time, it was around 40 degrees with windchill so we almost froze to death that day.

(WP): And when you go to take a photo what do you base your decisions off of when it comes to light angles etc.

John Kim: When I’m shooting photos, i always accept comments and criticisms. I’m always open for advices when it comes to shooting but it’s mainly about self interpretation more or less

Here are some of John’s photos
